| 1 | Common ScoterMelanitta nigra Seen further up the channel towards Corroios. Medium size duck. Completely dark brown, with rounded head and round looking body sitting relatively low in the water. Bill looked dark but the reflection from the water made details difficult to see. Most likely a female/immature. Diving repeatedly, only staying on the surface for a few seconds. In a very sheltered part of the estuary. Probably sought shelter from the strong winds a few days earlier and remained in the area. |
