1 | Common PheasantPhasianus colchicus Approximately 1.5 metres in front of me, a distinctively pear-shaped bird the size of a very large duck and with strikingly colored plumage (red, blue, white, and brown) and a long and thin tail, startled, flew out of some bushes bordering a dirt path down which I was walking and into the bushes on the other side. I have never a pheasant in person before, but at the moment I had no doubt what it was, and after many hours of thorough research I cannot find any other alternative for what else it could have been. It was an unexpected, surreal experience. |
