27 | Petinha-de-richardAnthus richardi Flock is flying over, by sound + 12 in fields. All birds are in the rice fields close to the old view point. My friend, a very experienced birdwatcher who had seen this species before, and I were near the old observation tower. At that time 15 birds with the sound flew over us and we counted them. Then we moved towards the old lookout tower. In the fields on both sides (left and right) we saw birds in the yellow grass and counted them. The birds on the fields did not land while we were moving to the fields. They were there before we came, and I believe we didn't double-count the same birds twice. My friend Sofia had a good experience with species recognition including voice recognition. She has also participated in bird-ringing projects with this species. We definitely recognized birds and they were not either Water Pipits or Meadow Pipits. |
